Today, we have the Stojaković - Čižmek guitar duo, two young professional guitarists who will present renditions of compositions by the Croatian composer Dora Pejačević and one new modern piece composed as an hommage à Dora Pejačević.

Dale Kavanagh: Collages (Hommage à Dora Pejačević)

Duo Biography:

Petra Stojaković (1996) and Ana Čižmek (1998) began their musical collaboration at the Blagoje Bersa Music School in Zagreb, studying under Professor Morana Pešutić. During this time, their guitar ensembles were awarded first prizes at the National Chamber Ensembles Competition (2014) and the Zagreb Guitar Festival (2015).

They resumed their collaboration in 2022 with the 'Life of Flowers' project, for which they received a scholarship from the "Auf geht’s" program by the Ministry of Culture of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. As part of this project, the duo collaborated with the prominent Canadian composer and guitarist Dale Kavanagh. Kavanagh's composition "Collages - hommage a Dora Pejačević" was written for the Stojaković-Čižmek duo, based on motifs from Dora Pejačević's piano cycle "Life of Flowers."

In August 2022, the duo performed in Fažana and at the concert of the Istrian Music Scene for the Youth in Pula. In October 2022, they had two concerts in Germany: in Cologne (under the auspices of the Dujić Guitar Atelier) and in Brühl (in collaboration with a local music school and the city's cultural office).

With the aim to continue the cultural promotion of Slavonia, to which the Pejačević family has made a significant contribution, the Stojaković-Čižmek duo organized several concert appearances in collaboration with city museums and music schools from April to August 2023.
